In 2009, Netball Victoria introduced a new and stronger state level of netball; the Victorian Netball League. Since the inception of the Victorian Netball League, 250 players have represented the Club as either a VU Western Lightning player or a Melbourne University Lightning player.

Four Australian Diamonds have played with the Club:

  • Joanna Weston - Melbourne University Lightning

  • Renae Ingles - Melbourne University )Lightning

Fiona Fowler (nee Themann) represented Scotland and Sanonu Robertson, Samoa, in the 2014 Commonwealth Games & 2015 Netball World Cup.

Numerous players and coaches have played in the various chapters of the Australian National Netball Competition; the Commonwealth Bank Trophy, ANZ Championship & Suncorp Super Netball and include:

The highest capped player is Madeline Stewart who joined the 19&U team in 2012 as a VU Western Lightning player. Maddie has played 138 games with the Club and is the Vice Captain of the Championship team.
